Question Who in your family has served in the Military?

My father joined the Merchant Marines as a teen in 1938 before the U.S. was involved in the war. Once the war started, those ships brought supplies to our troops. It was very dangerous, and many ships were sunk by enemy fire. Casualties were high. It wasn't until the 1980s that the Government recognized the Merchant Marines and awarded them Veteran's benefits.

My husband's father served in the Army in WWII. He has married with three kids, got drafted and served for over two years...came home and had three more kids. He fought in the Battle of The Bulge.

My brother-in-law served in Vietnam. Agent Orange killed him 16 years ago.

I know my mother had a couple of uncles who served in WWI. I know one of them was never the same...went sort of crazy, I guess.

My dad was in the air force the year after Vietnam ended. My Grandpa was in the Korean War I believe in the air force as well. He never left the states though.

Deep down I really would like to join some branch, I never would pass the eye test though.

My grandfather served in the Navy for WWII. He was a cook on the ship. He was drafted despite having a wife and a baby son. (My uncle)

My dad served in the Army in Vietnam. He was injured in battle. A grenade blew up and the shrapnel went into his back. He received the purple heart. While in the make shift hospital in 'Nam, he received a bad blood transfusion and contracted a form of Hepatitis. My father has battled various illnesses since the "conflict."

My Uncle served 8 years in the United States Air Force.

My other Uncle served a few years in the Navy.

I as well served in the Navy starting in 1990 (after graduating high school) to 1994. I was deployed to the Persian Gulf and served in Desert Storm.

My Grandfather was in the army during WW1 and my Dad was in the Marines for 20 years and fought in Vietnam. I've had distant relatives who served in WW 2. My Grandmother said her Grandfather was in the Civil War .

My grandpa on my dad's side served in Vietnam. My grandpa on my mom's side(who died 20 years ago before I was born) was in Korea.

I had several relatives in WWI and WWII(and wars before that).

Two of my uncles used to be in the Navy in the 90's, no wars.

Those are just the ones I can remember specifically...

My daddy was! He was in Vietnam. He ended up with TB though after he came back. He was an electronics (microwaves and such) specialist. He somehow got word that he was going to be drafted into the Marines, so he went and enlisted with the army instead.

My grandfather was in the Army (I think) in WWII. I never really knew that until I read it on his headstone. My other grandfather was in WWII as well...I think. We have this Navy pic of a company and I think someone told me my grandfather was in there. I'm not really sure what the man even looks like (he died in 65).

Some of my great-grandmother's brothers were in WWII as well. She was old enough to be in WWI, but her family was so spread out...her youngest sister is/was the same age great-grandma's son. Weird having an aunt that's your age. Anyway...lol

My Dad was in the Air Force during Vietnam. My uncle was in the Army. My bother was going be in the Navy but they rejected him based on his horrible eyesight. My Great-grandfather fought in WW1, but he was fighting for Germany. They came over here in 1925.

My Great Grandfather server with the Blackwatch (Canadian Highland ) regiment in WWI. Both Grandfathers served in WWII one for US and one for Canada/UK, My uncle served briefly in the US Army after Vietnam. I was in Military cadets for 6 years and then joined the reserves for 1 year. I was accepted into military college at 20 but the Canadian government in its ultimate wisdom decided to do massive cutbacks to the military and changed my plans for a fulltime career

My Opa served, and lost an eye while serving in WW2. It was during that time where he met Oma, and they married.
