I saw the movie in English class this year and I kept thinking this is like a dramatic Good Times. I really liked the movie and I think a lot had to do with GT. A lot of plots seem to come from the movie like Ibe (sp?) there was a character from Africa in the movie. The father only had a son, but he had a sister who was a little older then Thelma. There was no JJ character in the movie for obvious reasons.

That's the musical version, Raisin. Ralph Carter has a solo in it and his singing is a lot better than it was when he sang in Good Times. Debbie Allen is also in this picture, who we all know played JJ's girlfriend Diana in a two-parter of Good Times.
