Preview Thread without Clicking on it

At another board I go to you can read the first post of a thread by just having your mouse over the title. We could have that so we don't have to click on every thread. We can get a better idea of the thread by the preview. Here is what it looks like.

We've had that turned on a few times just to test it out. There are pros and cons to it. It might slow down the page loading times.

I agree. My computer goes slow enough around here.

That would be a cool idea (I go to a few forums where that option is enabled, and it's useful) but if it slows down the site, there's no reason to turn it on in my opinion.

While it wouldn't slow down your computer, it could slow the loading times a bit - probably un noticeable.

The real problem would the jump in bandwidth for the site.

It might be something to consider, or look in to. It could be a great screening device for offensive content. For example, the other day on SO I clicked open what looked like a harmless thread posted by a so-called new member. I was disgusted by what I saw. I'm glad that the posting was removed promptly. Being able to preview a thread first may avoid these situations.

I see you switched it and It works great. I haven't had any problems with it running slow or anything.
