yep, many discussions we have had concerning Thelma and her ability to only be able to fall in love...girl had nothing else going for her, as far as the writers were concerned.

the only time Thelma talked abt work, was when something bad (financially) was going on and good ol' Thelma would say, "I can work at the hospital full-time"..."Willona said I could work part-time at the boutique".

She did get that part-time job at Mickey D's, and James wouldn't let her because it was the 7-11 pm shift.

Yes, it did seem Thelma was engaged a lot before she married Keith. If she'd kept a previous engagement ring and pawned or sold it, she'd be contributing to the family finances big time!!
