Even though Ja'net DuBois was supposed to be playing a woman around Fred's age, in real life she was actually closer to series star Demond Wilson's age. In fact, she was only a year older than Wilson.

Janet played that role quite well. I'll bet until Good Times came out a year or so later, everyone really believed that was an older woman.
