Red face Uh.Oh. The love of my life has four strikes against him!

I don't know if my family would like me dating the love of my life, Ryan. he has not one,, not, two, not even three(The "out" number of strikes), but four strikes against him, which makes him way past "Out".

Strike 1. He is a White American, and my family is Black Haitina American.

Strike 2. He has some tattos, which my family is strictly against.

Strike 3. He used to be in a gang when he was younger.

Strike 4. He dropped out of high school and never went to college.

But I still love him despite of all these things. And referring to Strike 4, he seems very intelligent and articulate when he is speaking.

I guess you're screwed then. If you're 20 or so, then you're an adult. It's great if your parents do approve, but it doesn't always work out that way. You're an adult, do what you want.

That's a shame. I hope you don't mind me saying this, but I don't think it's right that your family would disapprove of the two of you dating just because he's a different colour to you.

But it's like MIBabe said. Your parents shouldn't be able to choose who you go out with or not. If you want to date this guy, I think you should date him.

Default i think

maybe u should take a good hard look at some facts

1. if he is another race and your family wont accept it--- they are not gonna change anytime soon--- is he worth losing them over??
most "love" goes away

2. if he has tatoos and a gang history that will most likely seriously limit his career and financial options ESPECIALLY if he has a criminal record

3. if he has no college skills and not even a high school diploma that even further limits him

sounds like no matter how u feel, id consider moving on

it would be different if he were trying to overcome these things, but from what u wrote, it sounds like he is ok with them all

i dont know, but it sounds like maybe its best to move on

I agree with that completly! The only thing I don't agree with is the parents and how they'd have a problem with his race. Sorry, but the rest of this stuff doesn't sound like it'll be that great of a relationship.

Depends where he has the tattoos. Are they visible when he wears a short sleeve shirt? My BF has tattoos, but they aren't visible when he wears a short sleeve shirt...Now, if your boyfriend has tattoos on his wrists, hands, forearms, legs (while wearing shorts, it can be seen) etc. then that is a different story. I don't know how many employers will hire someone with visible tats.

His tattoos are on his lower back and his upper biceps. If he wears a shirt long enough to cover his upper biceps, those two will be hidden. And as for his back, that is already always covered.

I agree. However, I don't know him and it would be wrong for me to judge. It just doesn't sound good to me, but I could be completely wrong. You're the one who knows him.
