Default An Interesting Question Concerning Larry...

In 3's Company it took various incarnations of the 3 room mates to pay the rent and keep their apt. running. In the beginning, Mr. Roper actually owned the Apt. building. Technically, he could live there for free & just maintain the building. I mean, what's he to do, pay himself?? You figure both he & Mrs. Roper were old enough to draw Social Security. Even though she did try to work in an episode, You can work so many hours & still draw SS. Mr. Furley's brother Bart bought the building from Mr. Roper. Mr. Furley, you figure, how extravigant his apt. was laid out & as flashy as he dressed, & as old as he was too, he had money & drew SS too. My question is:

If it took 3 people to pay the rent in one apt., & 2 different sets of people probably drew SS & had some sort of savings, how did Larry afford to live in the same apt. complex & he was only a used car salesman & lived by himself?Especially during the rent increase? Just thought of this. A glitch in the storylines, maybe?? Was un-thought of? Usually, in apt. complex's unless it's a 1 bedroom or 2 bedroom, or some other special circumstances, everybody usually pays the same rent. How did he do it by himself when he was only a used car salesman??

Really the rent for an Apartment in Santa Monica was a lot more than $300 a month so TC lived in a fantasy world. Going by that you'd think any of the girls would have no trouble coming up with a hundred dollars a month to pay the rent. All I can say about Larry was that his apartment was smaller and it was a one bedroom apartment so his rent was probably cheaper.

Exactly. And since he only took girls to "bed" (him being a cheap date) he saved $$$ too. His apt. was obviously only one bedroom, that would be cheaper than the trio's apt. As a used car salesman, he had to have some good selling months. He probably had a good savings acct. for the months that he wasn't doing so good.

Maybe he rented himself out as a gigolo on the side.

Who knows what Larry was doing to make extra dough?!

Plus, i always thought he lived in a studio apartment. I personally got to ask Richard about that...
