Green Arrow & Jimmy Olsen on SMALLVILLE
According to the July 24th issue of TV GUIDE magazine, Oliver Queen (a.k.a.
Green Arrow) will be the latest DC Comics character to visit SMALLVILLE. "Famous for his peerless skill with bow and arrow," writes Rich Sands, "Oliver will appear in at least seven episodes this season, which premieres September 28 on the new CW network. ... As with previous superhero guest stars like the Flash, Clark (Tom Welling) will be initially wary of Green Arrow. "Justin Hartley, best known for playing hunky rich boy Fox Crane on NBC's soap PASSIONS, has been cast in the role. Hartley starred in the pilot for an Aquaman series that [executive producer Al] Gough and his producing partner, Miles Millar, had developed for CW, and when that show wasn't picked up, they quickly offered Hartley the SMALLVILLE gig. ... Gough says [Lois Lane (Erica Durance)] will take a romantic interest in the emerald archer. "Cupid's arrows will also hit Clark's best friend, Chloe Sullivan (Allison Mack), and a young DAILY PLANET coworker by the name of Jimmy Olsen. That's right, Superman's future pal joins the SMALLVILLE universe as a recurring guest star. Chloe and Jimmy met offscreen a few years ago when they were summer interns at the PLANET. 'In our first episode back, they reconnect,' Gough says. 'And so Chloe Sullivan finally gets a boyfriend.' "That's one team-up even Clark should approve of." |

I think "Smallville" is getting a little crazy with all the cameos, but I'll be watching.

I also agree. And isn't Jimmy Olsen younger than Clark in all the other depictions of Superman?

im not too sure about this Oliver Queen appearance - at an age close to Lois' on the show he would've been in the prime of his millionaire-playboy stage, and years away from becoming the Green Arrow...
unless they are going to completely change that mythology too. |

I'm so desespointed of that show...They are telling the story as they please.Well,in that case, they should have done a new story with a brand new hero but, this is superman.Fans know his background very well. But,there's some fans of Smallville, that never read the comics or never seen the movies who totally think that's the real story and this show will change everything.
What angry me the most is this show became a real soap opera. The first and second season were good. But,since the third season,it was nothing but,bad writing, stupid romance ect...I know that Clark should have a love interest but,it took the all show and it was bye bye mytho. The Clark Kent of Smallville is not even the shadow of the man that he is supposed to become and there's only 2 seasons left may be least if they keep doing crappy storylines like this. |

I think in a way it's at the point where the show should just end. By traditional Superman mythology, he's at the point where he'd be taking on the mantle of Superman. Of course, I know Smallville marches to the beat of its own drummer and doesn't worry about how their storylines fit in with that.
On the other hand, it does seem like they're shoehorning in a lot of DC Universe characters for the sake of doing so. I mean, Jimmy Olsen??? Plus the foreshadowing of things to come with the appearance of a non-conventional Perry White a couple of seasons back and Lois already being in the picture. As far as I'm concerned, it wouldn't bother me if they got rid of Lana. I don't want to see her and Clark giving each other those tortured looks of jealousy and/or romantic longing any more. I'm just tired of her doe-eyed looks of helplessness, I guess. I think this should be the last season - things are pretty much at the turning point now. Shouldn't Clark be turning to Jor-El for counsel in how to save earth from Zod's domination by now??? I know we're not dealing with a traditional Jor-El, but I think he needs to do something. |

I'm glad you brought up the Perry White cameo from a few seasons back. Now that Chloe and Clark spend so much time hanging around at the Daily Planet, why hasn't he made another appearence. Michael McKeon, where are you? |
