Default don't these people lock their door?

It is a common sitcom staple for people to just barge into people's apartments, but in Good Times where they are supposed to be living in such a dangerous area, why don't they keep the door locked? I just saw the episode with the cousin who gets drunk on X-mas and her parents just walk into the apartment and they actually comment that the door was unlocked. Unless it was a joke, you never see the Evans family look through the peephole (did they even have one?) or unlock the door before opening it. And of course either Willona either has her own set of keys or she too just walks in through an unlocked door. What is up with this?

They also locked their door in "The Visitor" and "Family Business"

Also in the TV world no one ever locks their doors.

The funny thing is that most sitcom characters today keep the doors locked so to watch a rerun of Good Times where they are supposed to be living in a dangerous neighborhood and compare it to something like Seinfeld or Charles in Charge or some current series is just weird to watch.

Well your watching other sitcoms that I don't watch. Because they never lock their doors, people just walk right on in, or the "Home owners" just walks right on in while coming indoors.

One thing I've noticed about sitcoms in general, is that usually when someone knocks on the door, most times, someone just goes and opens the door, doesn't ask "Who is it?" The only time I saw one of them ask, who is it was the episode when James found all that money, before JJ opens the door, he asks "Who is it?" and that's only because he's scared to open it.

That's always been one of my biggest pet peeves with TV shows. Lock your doors already, people!!!

That's true, I also wondered why they never locked their door if they were living in a dangerous neighborhood.
