Word. Rogue from the comics kick ass! In the film, she was played as the damsel in distress. And that's not her character at all. Hopefully, she shapes up in time for X-Men 2.
But actually I thought Cyclops was more of the standard Superhero of the group. Good-looking and all. He's not my favorite X-Man though, that would be of course Bobby Drake, also known as Iceman.
Then Jean Grey, THEN Cyclops, Gambit, Angel...and so on.

HAHAHAHAHA. Maybe you aren't entirely aware of Rogue's powers. One li'l touch and poor wittle Super Woman is done for.

'Cause not only can Rogue steal all of Super Woman's powers, but oh yeah! she can fly and she's super strong and she's "well nigh-near" invulnerable (which means you can throw a boulder on her and she'll come out smelling like a rose without a scratch).

One can only hope, Cokies. But sadly I don't think that they can ever make Rogue in the movies live up to Rogue in the comics. For one thing (the biggest flaming plot hole/inconsistency in the X-Men movie), Rogue in the comics was raised by Mystique (the blue lady shapeshifter) and started out as an evil character in the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. All those elements in the comics add up to Rogue being a very dynamic and interesting character, but I don't think they can or will do all that with her in the movies. Also, she didn't have Miss Marvel's superpowers (flying, super strength, and invulnerability) in the movie......unless they have her absorb those in the sequel.

All this bitching and one might get the impression I didn't like the movie....I did really enjoy uit actually, I think it was the best comic-movie ever made. But when they messed with my favorite character so much, that did kind of tick me off. Plus, I was blown away with how good the casting was for that movie. Hugh Jackman is Wolverine, and everyone else was pretty much on the mark too. But I don't think Anna Paquin was a good Rogue. So first they messed with her, then they did a bad job of casting her. HARUMPH.

Yes, of course, of course. I think the film makers were too worried that they'd have to get too in depth with Rogue and her whole stint with Mystique and the Brotherhood. After all, in the film she was only 17 years old.
But you're probably right with saying Rogue will gain her Ms. Marvel powers in the second film. Let's only hope...
Oh, and you're also VERY right in saying Hugh Jackman IS Wolverine. He kicked ass! He was more than half the reason why X-Men is the best comic book film ever made.

A little side note about the sequels: I sure hope they incorporate the most popular and greatest X-Men storyline into the films, that being the ever-classic Dark Phoenix Saga. Just imagining that on screen...wow. But I'd bet the writers would scrap the premise and go for something more simple...Dark Phoenix would be kind of confusing on the big screen. Well, all's to hoping...

Oh Cokies, so true, so true. The Dark Phoenix Saga is truely great, but I agree, it may not translate well to the big screen.

See, I think that is part of what made the X-Men movie so great....it was simple enough that people who have no idea who the X-Men are can follow it. In my heart I know that is why they simplified Rogue's character (but I can still be a little PO'ed by it

I totally agree. Partly because I felt very sorry for Bryan Singer( the director) and the producers being pressured by Fox to meet the deadline with a measley 75 million budget ( that's NOTHING comparing it to other blockbusters). That's why they simplified. And finally, a movie I was REALLY looking forward to, was great. ( I had lost my faith after Episode 1, sadly.).

Gee, there are so many rumors flying around about X-Men 2. But here are some solid ones:
Beast will definitely appear( Bryan Singer himself wanted Beast in the first one, but due to the budget...) Sentinels will appear, but then there's this other rumor that the Legacy virus will be the X-Men's "villian" in the next film.
Sadly, Gambit chances of appearing are slim ( that's the only bad thing I can say about the writers.). I guess I can wait til the third one for him...
Still, I'm hoping for a Dark Phoenix storyline in the next two films ( planned trilogy). The writer David Hayter said he incorporated ties of the Dark Phoenix into the first film. Most of them are on the cutting room floor, ( wathc the DVD or the extra ten minutes of the tape). But most people point out the little shot of Jean Grey after Wolvie destroys the spining thing. The little look on her face...
Apparently, the big blob thing could be a excuse for her Dark Phoenix transformation in later films. That would totally be off story, but hey, I just want to see Jean blow herself up on the moon. Morbid, I know. Considering she's one of my favorite characters.

Okay, now I'm really rambling... Can anyone guess what I was obsessed with last summer? Obviously not Survivor...
