So I was able to figure out how to get cassettes onto my computer. But now I need a good software program to record them. I dl'd Audacity's free software, but it distorted this one show so much I couldn't hear it. So I'm looking for something better, maybe that has some cleaning ability, and doesn't cost hundreds of dollars. If you know of any, lemme know! Thanks

A good one I know of is Sonic Foundry's "SoundForge," and you can download a free 30-day trial version. They may (that's why I put it in quotes) let you save now. They never used to. Try it out. What's nice is that you have many different file extensions possible that you can save them (.mp3, .wav, .wma, .au, etc).
Or, Download.com is a great site for free downloads, shareware, etc. It's also a good website because you can read others' reviews and even post your own. I've used this site for A/V-related programs. |
