I think she was. Whenever James would get laid off or if James didn't go to an interview, she just put on a smile and said something like, better luck next time. My wife would've kicked my ass to the curb. lol

Why would your wife get mad if u got laid off? That's not your fault

Remember this was the '70's. Women hadn't completely liberated at that time. If that happened in this day and age, he would definitely be kicked to the curb. True, if he got laid off, it's not his fault. But you better believe he would be hitting the pavement the next morning looking for a gig. Especially if I'm working....if I gotta get up to go to work, then my man better getting up too.

That's an excellent point. I guess I equate it to a few years ago when I was out of work, my wife and I were constantly butting heads because I didn't have a job.

Florida just had that personality of not letting anger or what seemed like anger be the controlling factor in her demeanor. James was the angry one...not Flo. She was the "cool" one...and with James always being the angry one, it only makes sense for Flo to be the "peacemaker", the patient one. Imagine if both were always angry in dealing with negative issues in the house??? There would be chairs flying all over that place.

Being laid off is not James' fault...
