I have really had it with my parents, I still live at home. And I work fulltime, and do night courses. And I rarely if ever spend any money on myself, but whenever I do and the thing arrives. My parents as always open up my mail, and when I get back and pick up the package I get a long lecture about spending money on myself for worthless crap I don't need. WTF is up with that I'm 19, make my own money. Do very well for myself. Pay my bills, pay my parents rent, and have a nice car. If I want to buy something once in a while what the hell's business is it of my parents or my brother.

If you have such a good job, why not find your own apartment?

Yep. Abby would say to find an apartment ASAP. Get out of there before your relationship with your parents gets worse.

I guess your parents are concerned that you'll waste a lot of your money instead of saving it. It's probably rooted from worry about you, and I can understand them to an extent. However, as long as you're keeping up with your bills and rent, and don't spend TOO much money on other things, I think they're overreacting a bit.
Also, I think it's a little rude of them to open your mail. I mean, it's your mail. My parents wouldn't be happy if I opened their letters, and they don't open mine before I get to it. Maybe the next time you order something, you could arrange with to have the item sent to a friend's house? Then you could drop by later and pick it up.That way, your parents wouldn't get to it before you do. And if they don't notice you bringing it back home, they wouldn't even know you'd sent away for something. |
