The Ronald Glenn West case was on Cold Case Files on A&E today and once they spoke of how the guy committed several robberies in Blind River in the 90s, it sparked off to me that this guy is most likely the Rest Area robber/killer. The guy looks similar to the composite of the killer. I wonder if West stole jewelry from the McAllisters and pawned it or if the investigators ever found the rifles that were used to kill Jackie McAllister and Brian Major.
I couldn't think of a better suspect for this than Ronald West. I'll bet there is some clue that the police have withheld from the public. |

There have been articles posted here in the past that mention West is a suspect in the murder of Jackie McAllister and Brian Majors (I think thats his name) but I don't know if he's ever been charged. Wasn't West a former police officer? I remember on the segment the intruder stated he was the police before the McAllister's opened the door of their motor home. I'm unsure if they ever showed a picture of West to Gord McAllister but it would be interesting to know if he thought West was the one responsible.

I wonder what Gord thinks of that suspect and the situation with Ronald Glenn West? That's interesting because alot of serial offenders (particularily killers) have either been police groupies or applied for jobs in law enforcement. Ironically, some offenders are drawn to law enforcement because it gives them power. If West IS the Blind River Rest Stop killer, then I feel peace for Gord McAllister and his family. They can rest if he committed that horrible act and is brought to justice. Here is a link about a film on Ronald Glenn West: http://www.nfb.ca/trouverunfilm/fich...v=h&lg=en&exp= Cheers |

However, I take comfort in knowing that he's currently in prison on other charges. Therefore, he's no longer walking the streets. |

Yeah I believe West is in prison for two murders he committed back in the early 1970's. West I believe was a Toronto police officer for a few years in the 1970's. I know he was a cop at the time those murders occurred. Ronald Glenn West does look very much like the composite sketch. Obviously of course like others have said here only Gord MacAllister could actually identify him. I remember Gord saying "I will never forget his face." I also remember Gord saying "Sometimes I wish he would come after me and kill me so maybe they could catch him this time." That composite sketch scared the crap out of me and I will never forget the guy coming into their mobile home with two shotguns and saying "First I am going to rob you and then I am going to kill you." But did he even take anything from them? If he did I dont think robbery was the real motive, he might have taken something to throw off the cops into thinking it was a robbery but he was just out to kill people. I feel horrible for the MacAllisters and as for Brian Majors he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. I remember in the segment he ran to his car to escape but his car wouldnt start and the gunman stood directly in front of his car and fired a shot right through the window. Just terrible and one of the scariest segments I have seen.

considering Gord McAllister passed away only recently in 2012. Did they ever ask him if West was the killer? I wonder if they did and he said he didn't look like him and then stopped pursuing him.

He did seem like he could have been a cop(the killer). We've seen in other cases where cops were criminals that they were very keen to use their training to gain an advantage.
Obviously it was a robbery gone wrong if you consider the extra car driving up perhaps unexpected by the shooter. It is still possible that Gord could not have identified the real killer because as we all know eye witness memory is not accurate unless you really train for it. I think that it is possible West(or the killer) used a wig or some other type of disguise. I don't know the difference in grooming standards in foreign countries, but if he were a cop at the time i don't think he would have had long hair? |

Ronald Glenn West also committed other crimes where he would rob people at gunpoint, right after identifying himself as a police oficer.
