Question If the "Ropers" didn't want their spin-off.

I am curious - had Audra Lindley and Norman Fell not opted to star in "The Ropers" would the producers have written them out anyway (I know that, at least Norman Fell, had the opportunity to return if the spin-off didn't last a year, but it seems rather suspicious that "The Ropers" just happened to last just long enough to make that clause null and void before it was axed)? It seemed that they wanted to focus more on Jack, Janet, and Chrissy by the time the Ropers left the series (keep in mind, there were quite a few "TC" episodes that Jack, Janet, and Chrissy were almost just supporting characters and the focus was the Ropers).

Good question, I think if they really didn't want it, they might have held off on doing it.

I think they would have just been written off because the producers were saying Audra and Norman were becoming too expensive. Which is why they were hoping they didn't comeback because it was cheaper to pay One person instead of Two

that is a good question. i never really thought abt it until seeing the movie the second time. I mean, i did find it suspicious that the spin-off was cancelled at one season and a half...hmmmmmmm.
