james character on the show got played

hEY did anybody notice something about john amos character james and how he got played, ill tell you, you remember in a couple of episodes where jame had mention fighting in the vietnam war
and how dangers it was, wouldn't you think as soon as he served his time at vietnam that he would get full benifts and money and a good paying job where he wouldn't have to struggle, to me he got played in that tv show, a viietnam vet not getting what he did in that war, that is mess up

Are you saying that the writers messed up???
There are a lot of veterans that are homeless...many that are mentally unstable...some ended up with alcohol or drug addictions. If being in the military guaranteed every person a wonderful life full of benefits, $$$, and a good job, then answer me this: WHY ARE SO MANY VETERANS HOMELESS? Where did you get the notion that one leaves the military and suddenly life is good?

I have to agree with you on this issue. I live in a military town, and work on a military base, and believe me, being in the military or being a vet does not guarantee you anything. I see so many young men and women retire or get out of the military and can't get a job on the outside for nothing. I know of one ex-military officer who retired, couldn't find a job, and lost his house. Being a vet is not like what some people think it is.

I think that is one reason why so many people enter the military, they have notions that there is some comfort AFTER leaving the service. Of course, there are those who do succeed succesfully with a military career, however, there is no guarantee (like everything else) that it will provide a comfort zone or some sort of privileges...I have seen so many people who are veterans that are treated like yesterdays garbage.
