19 dvds, 156 episodes? 40-42 minutes each episode? That would make it about 8 episodes per dvd. What's the quality like?

the set is the best out there
quality varies a lot some are vhs transfers, some are off air, id say 7-8 overall not bad nice menus and good show ALSO ive noticed some eps are longer, so it looks like maybe different sources some have less cutting? but good set, i watched like 6 eps when i got it used to love the show as a teen |

I am currently transferring Mannix myself from TV Land recordings I made back in the good old TV Land days. I use SP speed for each episode and I'm currently in the middle of Season 3, so I have a way to go. I got Season 1 though from a trade from someone else, must be this group you're talking about, they are all in lousy EP speed and look as good as an ep speed recording will. Lousy, in my opinion. But a lousy ep speed Season 1 is better than no Season 1, so for that I'm grateful to have it. But I have the rest of the series and am transferring it myself in SP. I have all Seasons 2, 3, 4, 5, & 6 and some episodes of Season 7 and I think one or 2 from Season 8 (don't have my list in front of me).

I have Seasons 1 and 2 uncut and commercial-free at SP. They were recorded from TV Land Canada using a satellite dish (I live in Upstate NY). There are 2 episodes on each DVD and they run about 50 minutes each.

I have the first 2 1/2 seasons uncut off digital satellite from TVLand Canada, and the rest of the "common" episodes uncut off cable from TVLand. Also have a few of the otherwise "lost" season 7 eps from a German broadcast, but they are overdubbed in German. All done 2 eps/disc and, as you'd expect from off-broadcast recordings, very nice quality.

the mannix set i have is not lousy at all
its not great mind u, but the quality is 7-7.5 for the most part, some eps are a low 8 of 10 vhs quality, nothing special, but entirely watchable and enjoyable a few eps are lesser but the set is decent and ive had no complaints it seems that the final seasons are no longer available in syndication? not sure why, but that is the consensus |

The bane of my trading life is getting ep speed recordings from people esp. when they don't tell me I'm getting EP stuff. Yes, I admit, it's better than nothing, but a blurry wavy picture is not good in anybody's book. I got a Hawaiian Eye ep set (another surprise ep set) and the whole thing looks like you're viewing the TV thru a fish tank. The sound also has a high pitched faint squeal in the background. The Mannix's I got from a trade, that Season 1 set, were all blurry, with bad sound too. THe only decent looking EP recordings I've seen are the one's I have made of Beverly Hillbillies & McMillan & Wife, these are one's I recorded myself off the cable "air". THe picture's not bad at all, not perfect mind you, but very watchable. No blurry or fish tank pictures like these trade sets I've gotten. Anyway, I say feh to EP speed shows, it's the lowest quality you can get and a skunk by any other name is still a skunk.

well i think u r wrong
i wont go on and on about it BUT ive seen sets with 8 eps on 1 disc that look great and some with 2 eps on a disc that look bad it depends on how good the material is to start with and how the set was authored |
