When they "used to" come to my door, I would just slam the door in their face. I don't get where it is in their religion that they need to go door to door and bug the hell outta people trying to shove THEIR religion down someone's throat. Is that something they MUST DO? I finally got a sign from my church that says we don't accept any religious material, etc. etc. etc. That seems to work. I have had a quiet two months. Although I see them walking around bugging my neighbors.

I live in a gated community so unless you're invited you don't get to come in, So I don't have that problem anymore. But before we moved we had them knocking on our door early Saturday mornings. And sometimes I would sit and listen, other times I would tell them to hold on so I could get my husband and I would close the door and wouldn't go back to the door.

That actually doesn't happen to me anymore. I think they're afraid to come to this neighborhood in all honesty. I use to have them coming to the door of my old house all the time, but we haven't had a single one come to our door in the 8 years we've lived here.
As far as what I use to do, I would just take their little pamphlets, listen to them for a couple minutes, and when they left I'd read the material, and then usually throw it away, depending on what it said. |

I tell them Jesus is on my side, not yours because if he was on your side, he would tell you to stop harassing the **** out of your neighbors.

I don't like it, and I do anything to avoid their presence. If I am home and I hear at knock at the door, I always look through my peep hole before deciding whether or not to answer. I won't answer if it's a group of dressed-up religious people. While living at this apartment complex, I haven't had any of the religious people knock at my door, but I have had it happen when I lived at home and with my mom/sister, and I still didn't answer the door.
I have also seen them walking nearby my front door as I was trying to get into my mom's apartment. When they approach me, I just tell them, "I'm sorry, but I am not interested" and just go inside. I don't have the patience and time (and don't want to give the time) to listen to preachings. I am not interested in religion, and I don't want to hear preaching about it. What makes it even more difficult to outright say "I am not interested" is if one of those religious people is a co-worker you like. That actually happened to me! One of the religious ladies turned out to be a co-worker of mine who is a computer instructor. She is a really nice lady. Luckily, she didn't try and hound and convince me or anything. We just greeted each other, and she handed me a pamphlet. That's about it. But that's someone I know.

I actually have alot of respect for missionaries who go door to door to spread there message. In the days of Jesus, He Commanded His Disciples to do this, so I really can't put these people down, because I admire what they do. It's scary sharing your Faith with others, but I can only imagine how scary it would be going from door to door doing it. Iv'e heard of these people getting spit on, and even getting physically attacked, and still, through all that, they continue with their missions, and do it with smiles on their faces. Those people have alot more guts and Faith than I ever will, and I greatly respect that. Even if it's a Religion I don't agree with, I respect the fact that they care enough about me to want to share it with me.

Hide and pretend I'm not home. My mom and dad are good at getting rid of them but I'm not, so I just don't answer the door.
When I was in college, about once a year they would have old men handing out mini-bibles, but they never tried to talk to you, so I just took one and said thank you. One year I had a monk stop me and try to get me to donate to something, but I lied and said I was broke...which back then wasn't so much a lie. lol |

I almost felt sort of bad for some Jehovah Witnesses that came to our house a few years ago when my Grandpa was here. My Grandpa is a retired pastor and know the bible inside and out. I don't think they got a word in edgewise
