All happening within an hours distance from my house
_____________________________________- Federalsburg, Md., received almost a foot of rain over the weekend, prompting an emergency declaration by the town's mayor. In the Delaware city of Seaford, emergency officials evacuated 15 residents due to high water. Emergency managers in Maryland and Delaware report many road wash-outs and basements flooded. Flash flooding struck many areas, stranding drivers and flooding tunnels and underpasses across the region. Flood warnings and watches remain posted for much of the area. The high water washed out roads and snarled the Monday morning commute for residents in the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia and Delaware. Many rail lines were shut down as well. Many areas received between four and seven inches of rain in several hours on Sunday, reported the National Weather Service. The weekend weather also saw some powerful thunderstorms which knocked down trees and powerlines. The heavy rain caused a mudslide on one section of the heavily-traveled I-495 beltway around Washington, D.C. Parts of Pennsylvania and New England also received high amounts of weekend rainfall. Armstrong County, Pa., experienced flash flooding and is now under a state of emergency. Eastern West Virginia is also under a flash flood watch.
