Is the stuff the M*A*S*H cast drank from the still real alcohol , or was it just water? I've always wondered this....

It was probably just water! I doubt it'd be real.
When I was 12, I remade my room to be a miniature SWAMP, complete with a still....Actually, it was just a couple of tupperware containers connected with funnels and straws that held water, so maybe that's why I lean towards it just be water! |

Considering the amount of times they film a scene from different angles, and the number of takes they do for a particular shot. It would be safe to assume that the actors would probably be pretty smashed after a day of filming.

I never heard this, but I can tell you that it DEFINETALY wasn't real, because the F.C.C. (Federal Comunications Corporation-the company that regulates TV) has a rule that says you can't drink alcohol on TV. Besides, like someone else said, with all the takes they had to do (sometimes it takes 3 hours to shoot a half-hour sitcom) you can just imagine what it'd be like if they really did drink alcohol!!!
That's also why they never served real drinks on "Cheers", and why they didn't, and don't, in other sitcoms. |
