Default Jo & Rick

Hi, this is my first time posting although I've been reading posts for months now.. I was just curious and I apologize in advance if this has already been discussed. Did you like Jo and Rick? I like Scott Bryce, but I felt their relationship was too abrupt - it was just too quick. Did anyone feel that as well? That perhaps they married too quick? Was there "chemistry?"...
I thought it would have been cool if someone from Jo's past would have come back instead.... someone who the audience knew and had some kind of "history" with.. someone like Eddie (her first boyfriend) although I know way back he eventually married someone else.. Just curious what your thoughts were......

I didn't mind Rick and I thought their chemistry was okay. Not off the charts, but it worked well enough. However, I think the main issue was how abrupt it was. I had no problem with it being a new character though.

Scott Bryce appeared on I think two episodes prior to the wedding one. First the one where he acts as a big brother type towards Andy. In that episode Jo and Rick aren't even dating yet, though there is a little flirting going on.

The next time we see Rick they are supposedly pretty serious and it's the episode with Jo's dad not liking Rick.

Then we see him proposing and a marriage all in 30 minutes...yeah, a bit rushed.

Especially since I think that Jo might have some reservations as Rick is known for being the fun guy who doesn't think much about saving money or what not when she's a bit more responsible in that regard.

Thanks Raya for your reply... yeah the abruptness of it all is what has bugged me all these years and I'm glad that I'm not the only one who felt that way. Perhaps, if they had played it out (the relationship) a bit longer... it wouldn't have been so rushed. It would have been nice to see Jo and Rick going through marriage life hence hte title... but oh well... :-D I sitll love the show! :-D

No problem. Welcome to the board!

But yeah, it was the abruptness that bugged me. I didn't mind Rick himself. Though I didn't find his jokes particularly funny either.

I hate Rick. Jo could have done so much better. The episode where they get married is also one of my least favorites. I think it would have been nice to bring Eddie back.

Hello Dax.. I agree, Jo could have done better.. Seemed a bit out of character for her to date someone like Rick.. Would have made more sense if she married someone she knew prior...

I liked Rick, however I agree, the wedding was too rushed. Eddie I don't think was someone who would've been good for Jo, cause remember, Eddie didn't think she could go to college, cause they'd be moving around a lot. All Eddie wanted her to do was have his children and take care of the house. With Rick, she had opportunities and she was happy, since they were still married in the reunion, and happiness is all that matters.

True about Eddie... I like Rick but I would haven't picked him for Jo but yeah at least they lived happily ever after. I know I can't turn back the clock, I just wished they could have played out their relationship longer and not rushed the wedding or expanded that wedding to an hour. The first girl to marry and they ddin't even make it a special one...

I liked Rick I thought he was pretty funny, I like the first ep he was on when he told Jo I might just come back and haunt you & then when the clock hit midnight he was lying face down on the desk and everyone thought he was dead and BeverlyAnn goes to touch him and he jumps up and yells hey, that part is so funny. But I also agree that the wedding was rushed they should of waited and had the wedding ep as one of the last eps. You know I would of liked to have seen Jo's relationship with Flyman go futher then what it did. I thought Flyman was cute.

You know Flyman and Jo crossed my mind the other day. He appeared in 2 episodes, why couldn't he have a more recurring role?
