Default The Yankees are running out of Old Timers LOL

Today was the 60th annual Yankees Old Timers day. I remember watching this as a kid and seeing all the greats like Mickey Mantle, Joe Dimaggio, Phil Rizzuto, Yogi Berra, Whitey Ford, Elston Howard etc, etc.

I understand that with time, people age and/or pass away, but today I caught a little of the ceremony and saw people like Daryl Strawberry, Bobby Meacham and Steve Kemp being honored. Steve Kemp?!? He played with the Yanks for a year and it was a bad year at that. lol

Aw man, today was Old Timer's Day? I love watching that. Maybe YES will rerun it tonight.

You are right Brian, many of the great old timers are gone.

Of course, I'm sure Joe Pepitone was there.

Joe Pepitone was there like he is every year. He still looks the same. I just couldn't get over Bobby Meacham and Steve Kemp! Probably two of the worst players the Yankees had during their horrible stretch in the 80's.

I think Joe Pepitone has had a better career as a retired Yankee than as a Yankee.

They also had David Cone playing in today's game and last year I saw Dave Justice playing in the Old Timer's game.

At least Cone did something with the Yanks. He did throw a perfect game. Steve Kemp was just a waste of space. lol

That's true. I think the only reason they had Bobby Meacham there was because he is the Marlins' third base coach and that's who the Yanks are playing this weekend.

It's gotta be that, because he was a horrible player. Do remember when he and Dale Berra were BOTH tagged out at home plate by Carlton Fisk on the same play? lol

That is one Yankees moment I've tried to forget for many years
