Default What happened in the Marlins/Orioles Game yesterday had to be the first time ever

I have never seen when a team decides to walk a certain player and that player they are walking decides to HIT the Ball anyway-lol Has this ever happened before? Usually if a player is being walked intentionally he will just stand there until ball 4, not run over and try to hit the ball and actually gets a base hit-lol

I think I have seen it happen once before in the 80's with the Royals George Brett. It is very rare.

They can't. They had something in the rule book about this and it said that when a hitter is intentionally walked, they can't swing.

There is a reason that they make pitchers make the throws on intentional walks. There have been wild pitches and batters hit by intentional walk pitches I'm sure.

I'm just surprised he was able to connect with the ball since the pitch was so high.

But, it was also only going about 60 mph. He had plenty of time to eye it up and pop it into centerfield.

That pitcher must have felt like quite the dingleberry after letting that happen.

The one thing that was different about that pitch was that it wasn't thrown to the far right like it usually is on intentional walks. He threw that thing right near the plate.

You can swing at any pitch. It's the pitcher's fault that he put it over the plate. He should have thrown it like 5 feet away so there was no chance of the batter hitting it.
