Oh No Teen: I'll Marry Man I Met on MySpace.com

Another crazy MySpace story. The saddest thing about this story to me, is how easily a person can throw their whole Faith out the window, just to be with someone who they've never even met in real life. Not to sound preachy or anything, but in the Christian Faith, you're suppose to put God before everyone and everything. It's pretty sad when you can't even put him before some dude on MySpace. To me, that's the most tragic part of this whole thing.

GILFORD, Mich. (AP) - A teenager who flew to the Middle East to be with a man she met on MySpace.com said Friday she intends to marry him.

``I love him very much,'' 17-year-old Katherine Lester said of Abdullah Jimzawi, 20, who works in his father's business delivering goods to West Bank convenience stores.

Lester appeared on ABC-TV's ``Good Morning America'' with her father and stepmother. Jimzawi also spoke with ABC during a taped portion of the segment, describing how the pair ``can't live without each other.''

After hearing what Jimzawi said, Lester began weeping.

``It's true,'' she said. ``I love you. That's all I can say.''

The two first encountered each other about seven months ago on the social networking web site but have never met face to face.

Lester, who turned 17 on Wednesday, was en route to Israel earlier this month when she was intercepted in Jordan by U.S. authorities who seized her passport and put her on a flight back to the United States.

Jimzawi has told The Associated Press that the two planned to marry and that Lester planned to convert to Islam. Lester, a Christian, declined to say Friday whether she intended to convert.

The two have resumed communication online since she returned home.

``Our initial reaction was to isolate her, to lock her up and just keep her safe here in America,'' said her father, Terry Lester. ``But that's unrealistic because you can see the love they have for each other.''

Authorities filed a runaway juvenile petition against Lester earlier this week, and a judge ordered her to give up her passport and undergo counseling. If the judge finds that Lester was a runaway, she could be placed under court supervision until she turns 18.

Wow, that is freaking crazy. Some people are just becoming too dependent on meeting people on the Internet.

She really had better think about her decision. Correct me if i'm wrong but don't women have very little personal freedoms over there, compared to the U.S. I mean.

i watched the news video on comcast.net about that, and it makes me really mad to know that her parents still let her talk to that guy and don't have a problem with it, even after what she did. my mom stopped me from talking to someone on a message board i really was close to, when nothing even happened, yet that girl glew across the world to meet this man, yet is still allowed to talk to him.

You know what, this comment pisses me off and offends me in so many ways, I'm not even going to respond in depth to this bull****. It's not a jab at Islam, I'm offended that a person can throw away her Faith on a guy she's probably known for a year at the most. It's about abandoning your Faith over a guy, that 's what is absolutely sickening. Same way Katie Holmes abandoned her Faith over some pretty boy and his damn cult. Oh I love you God, I love you God, oh wait, there's a cute guy, I don't love you anymore, now I love Allah. **** phony Faith!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! uke:

That comment must have really pissed you off, you replied twice.
Islam isn't a cult, I know just because it's not Christianity thats hard to understand.
Maybe her faith wasn't that strong? Not everyone has a strong faith.

Anyhow that girl is 17, so in a year if she wants to move to the West Bank to marry this guy, no one can really stop her.

What are you guys reading??????????? Where and the hell did I say Islam was a cult?? Wasn't even close to what I was saying. Some of you people just read **** that's not even there, I swear, with some of you, it's impossible to make a point because you never understand what a person is really saying. I have nothing but respect for all the true Islamic people out there, and have never said differently.

And yes, it's obvious that this girls Christian Faith may not be very strong. I believe I mentioned that in my last message.

If any of my words seem a little harsh, or offend some people, I apologize, I'm PISSED off today. Especially in regard to the Faith I love, and would die for!!

You are right, that was my fault. You meant Scientology, which I happen to agree with you on. Again, my apologies.

Yeah, Scientology is weird. I tried studying it awhile back to learn more about it, but had to stop after long because it was just too absurd. It amazes me how anyone can believe in that stuff. I mean, the whole cult was started by a Science Fiction writer for crying out loud.
