Default CBS Show - "The Royal Family" from 1991

I haven't read the 1991 TV Guide Preview yet but I'm sure that this show received a lot of praise because it was really good. I watched 7 eps this morning and I loved Redd Foxx grouchiness toward his grand kids and the interaction between Della Reeese and Redd Foxx. It's a shame Redd sudden passed away because I think this show would have been the HIT of the 1991-92 TV Season.

BTW: I don't kno what the producers were trying to accomplish when they added JACKEE to the show

I got all episodes of the Royal Family. This was probably my favorite short-lived series. I especially liked the interaction between Redd and Larenz Tate. Like Larenz needed Al (Redd) to keep him on the right track. Solomon, did you see the episode when Al was watching TV and the theme from Sanford and Son came on? That was so special. Note:Waldo (Shaun Harrison was in that ep)

Jackee was a horrible replacement who didn't fit the chemistry. The producers were better off NOT replacing him instead of bringing her on there.

No I didn't but I'm guessing that ep is 3 or 4 because I watched eps 1 , 2, 5, 6, and 7 but not 3 or 4 yet.

Hey Garfiedkool, the Girl Kim that Waldo was trying to get with looked better than Ashley from Fresh Prince, Laura from Family Matters, Zoria from Parenthood, and Max from Family Matters. Damm she was HOT!!! Also that wasn't the real Sanford and Son Theme that played on the TV-lol Also Waldo was DUMB on this show just like he was in Family Matters

OK maybe I missed the point because I was so used to you advertising your collection in a TV show discussion thread. I didn' realize you were searching for something.

She was hot, but she wasn't as hot as Zoria and Max in my opinion. I know that wasn't the real theme from S@S, but it was the same tune, and it was so special because I think they did that to pay tribute to the Fred Sanford character.

Did you see the episode with Jermaine Hopkins(Lean On Me, Juice) dancing around? I liked that one too.

Yeah it took me a while to noticed it was him-lol This show had to be a Top 10 show before Redd Foxx died.

I don't know if it was a top ten hit, but I think it was a modest hit. I was watching this show every week when it premiered back in 1991, and when he died, that was it.

I will let you in on a secret. The episode where they killed him off kind of got me emotional. I don't know if you watched it yet, but when Della started crying that was it. But it was good to see Slappy White and Don Bexley in that episode. Sorry for spoiling it if you haven't seen it yet.
