packaging DVDs

Can some of you veterans please offer up some advice on how you safely package your discs for shipment? Thank you.

i usually put the discs in sleeves, 2 per sleeve (UNLESS someone requests 1 per sleeve)
when i have them all ready, i rubber band it, from both directions so they stay in place, then i wrap the set with bubble wrap or newspaper and fold it up and slide it into the envelope
FOR BIGGER ORDERS, i will usually ship on a spindle and make sure the top of the spindle and case has some newspaper or such stuffed in to keep the discs from shifting
and then i pad the box with newspaper, bubble wrap, even napkins are better than nothing

In other words, it's all about how safe you want it to ship.

Because we've all had packages that looked like the USPS used it
for hockey practice.

There is one thing that lamont left out. If you use the 2 discs per sleeve
make sure that you put them label against label. there will be a little
sliding and it's less apt to get scratched if it's against the end of the paper
sleeve against metal on metal contact.

I personally use bubbled envelopes when I ship. And try to have as little
give as possible in the package. Stuffing with newspaper or notebook
paper wrapped around the envelopes themselves just adds another level
of protection.

The other quick thing you can do is take a old carboard box and cut it into strips
One box yields lots of strips
Put one one each side- and this keeps the dsics form being crushed byt he automatic sorter on the Post Office line.
Cardoard is light, and can take a beating.
Oh and its free just look behind any store.

Bubble envelopes are relatively cheap and so far I have never had to replace a broken disc (scratched or bad burn yes, but never cracked).

I have on occasion recieved cracked discs becasue they were shippid in regular envelopes with no cardboard or paper.

Ive actually had morons ship me LOOSE DISCS in an envelope, and they come all scratched up
OR they wrap them up with TIN FOIL or such

I even had 1 guy put 3 discs in a sleeve- PUT A STAMP ON THE SLEEVE- write my address on it and mail it that way!

There was a war started last year because some guy did that to me and I sent them back as o ton of them were scratched.

Jen had him punted as he ran very fowl after I sent the stuff back.

Ha! I remember that guy! If I recall, when I spoke up in your defense he really lost it and claimed that us beer drinking, hockely playing Canucks would back each other up if one of us had committed murder. What a psycho he was.

I ship one per sleeve unless it's a 2 disc plastic sleeve (but I never put 2 into a 1 disc sleeve), place them between a couple of pieces of cardboard and ship that in a bubble wrap envelope.

For larger packages I put them in a secure cake box and ship that in a cardboard box with bubble wrap/popcorn/newspaper, whatever, as padding.

That was him, even attcked Jen on several other boards when he was booted.

Bottom line protect the discs you are sending as you would not be happy recieving a ton of scratched discs. All of the info here is good some work better than others, some are cheaper options but for the most part if you take some of these steps the discs will be protected.

Also think tipped pens and writing on the discs can (not always) screw up the readablity of the discs.

Does anybody see a problem with these? I think they are preety handy since they have a non scratch inner liner and have an opening on both sides so they hold two disks but they aren't touching each other.



That is what I have been using recently and nobody I sent them to said anything about them. I have never gotten them in a trade so I didn't know if you all had probems with them or anything like that

that is what I do. Seems safe and painless to me. I got a box of 200 of those sleeves for just 8 dollars. They are just as much (or little) as the regular kind.
