Make sure your virus programs are up to date because there are a tons of files there that have spyware and viruses.

I pay for it, So I'm assuming it okay.
I think the problem is when you download and then upload to other people, Which is kinda how Kazaa works. I set my settings so I don't upload anything. |

Still be careful because some members put bogus files out there and then all of a sudden your computer is over run with pop ups and spyware.
Always scan your file for viruses before opening it. For the most part they are good but I have found some nasty viruses there. Cheers Lex |

Yeah, and most of the time common sense will tell you which files are fake. A long video file is certainly not going to be 23 kb. Suspiciously small files sizes and strange tags are easy things to spot right off the bat.
What I usually do is scan the files before I open/execute them. Another thing, what benefits does paying for this service offer? I've used kazaa a few years ago, but never paid for it. As for the legality of it - well, depends what you use the software for. |

Download sites are like hookers; the cheaper they are, the more dangerous.

Pretty much any of the free p2p software (limewire, bearshare, emule, edonkey) have the same problems with files that are either virus filled, ad
filled or crap filled. It's the nature of getting free files. Definitely do your research as far as how to protect yourself from both Virus files, fake files as well as IP addresses for malicious groups that will eat up your bandwidth to keep you from downloading/uploading. Slyck.com has an excellent set of tutorials for getting started with the P2P network software including some addins to make things a whole lot safer. But to put it simply, Let the downloader beware |

I have had Limewire and Bitlord (p2p software) for over a year and have never gotten a virus. Either I am lucky or the sites I go to work out good. All the torrent sites where you have to register to are a lot better than the ones where anyone can upload anything without registering.

I agree but the bit torrent sites require a little more user know how. Far better selection and quality with those though |
