i got an email from someone with the complete set of RAGS TO RICHES on dvd

BUT i do not have a name or user id, and i didnt get a reply to my emails yet

I HAVE NO INFO EITHER WAY just 2 email addresses and a site link

so if u can give me advice about this person

Sounds very like Richard Johnson, who is a ripoff artist with many, many aliases, including some female ones. One of this favorite IDs is RagstoRichesFan. Also Gothammaster, and a whole host of others. He's located in Maine, I believe. Oddly enough, he was the first person to rip me off on eBay, but when I realized that something I really wanted really did exist, it set me on a path to start trading again.

I think you can probably find these episode from other traders with a little work. $110 is a really high amount to pay for a short-lived show. Unless someone can offer a positive review based on personal experience, I'd be wary.

Look for ragstorichesfan on the bad traders list and see if any of the names/aliases you see there match with the info you have/get. Proceed with caution, or just drop it and look elsewhere.

I'm new so forgive my naivity, but why not just ask him to send first. I mean, Lamont can produce countless references I'm sure and if the guy is legit he should have no problem sending first.

The strange thing is, LOOOOOOOng ago, I did a trade with him/them
and did get their rags to riches stuff on VHS

if anyone wants them to put to dvd, and make me a set- I will offer them up.

Sounds to me like a perfect resolution to the problem, Savage. Never a good idea to feed the beast that is Richard Johnson, but what a great idea to circumvent him! Poetic.

He has another alias, and I can't remember what it was - it's the name he told me to send the money order for my eBay win back in the day. Yep, Vermont - you'd think after all the years I spent living around Boston I'd keep my New England states straight ... :?

The difference on Ebay is that if he doesn't deliver, the buyer has recourse. He would not last long there if he started ripping people.

Well as far as I know his ebay history was- get apick up and go credit card- ring 4-5 people-

I had dealt with Patricia, before they were full time scammers.
I got the Rags to riches VHS tapes- they had at the time. Most are SP format-

No golden tickets here....I offer them if anyone wants to make a dvd set of them- But they aren't complete.
I will say this, the pilot I have is a 10/10 quality. SP format.
But the rest are a varying range of 7-9

So when I did trade with her, as COMPLETE
and got partial and complained, I received a verbal butt whooping
I was called names that would make a sailor blush- without batting an eye.

And that was my only dealing with her.
When I heard 4 months later she was scamming, I wasn't surprised. It isn't a far step from being incorrect and unwilling to correct the matter, to just out and out lying.
She did come back to me 6 months after that-
And wished to trade with me again- I said sure, and chose 4 epiosdes she had missed the first time-
and Ernest goes to Splash waterfalls- a rare disney piece.

I got ernest goes to splahs waterfalls which was a retail to vhs trasnfer, and the reason I know it was retail is because there was a thick thick copy guard on it, changing/distorting the picture nad sound throughout.

2 of the episodes of Rags to Riches were the wrong ones, and the last was cut off.

I contacted her- and tried to dicuss it, to the same avail-
And at that time figured if she wasnt' going to even at least attempt to send good quality, correct quality to a moderator, most members were sunk.
And shared that opinion.

Their names have changed over the years- but they are known for the rags to riches set.
Which as I said, I offer the tapes I do have to a trustworthy soul who wants to make a set so the community can have it.

At last I heard, same address-
Took the member wetdrench for a 2 hour "rare" abc afterschool special.
Charged him 25.00 on ebay for it
never got a thing from them.
He filed a complaint with ebay- and they contacted him, suspended their newest user id.
But as he paid by check there was nothing they could do to enforce a refund.

I did a successful trade with him once too for Contest Searchlight on VHS. Episodes looked okay, but sound quality sucked.

This guy/girl is a total a hole. RIP OFF ARTIST extrordinaire. However, I got a happy ending after I reported the idiot. Local police called me, took the complaint and about a week later, I got my tapes. BUT they were junk that I ended upgrading years later. What a miserable experience, I wish nothing but ill will toward these idiots and I hope they never have peace.
