to call you about setting up an interview after you submit a resume? It's been 2 weeks since I submitted an internal transfer resume and I haven't heard anything yet. Since they're my present employer, I'm a little hesitant to call them asking what's up. My mom said one time she had someone contact her 6 months later (which I thought was completely abnormal). But 2 weeks seems so long to me and I've lost faith of anyone ever calling me. I swear...I can't even get my own company to call me. Someone please give me something positive here....I hate my present job and I want out so bad. This no-call thing is depressing me so much.
Also...HR has an email address...would it be appropriate to email asking about my status? |

I had a company call me up over the Easter holiday asking if I would be willing to come in for an interview. It was almost 3 weeks later before I was contacted again about setting up the interview.
As for emailing HR, I would. Infact, I did in my situation and I had my interview and now I'm waiting to hear back from them. Good luck. D |

It's hard to tell, but usually a couple of weeks. I had a company call me almost a year later. It's one of those things that's not cut and dry.
Have you considered temping Cathy? It's a good way to try out different companies, and see if it's a good fit, while putting money in your pocket. |

I would say in general, 2 weeks is on the low end. But then again, I do not nkow how it works when you are trying to transfer within the same company.

I suppose it matters how many other job postings they have up at the same time. They have 22 job openings right now, 3 of them being department managers. So maybe receptionists aren't immediate to them.

Most companies have a period of time that they have to leave the job posting open for. At the end of that time they will call back employees for interviews.
My husband was up for a transfer to another department and it took almost a month..... |

I applied for a job in the local movie theater in late May. Then last week, I get a phone call asking for an interview. Apparently, they take in applications and then interview them all on a set date. I interviewed and I'm very sure it went well.
It really depends on the employer. |

So I emailed HR and the lady told me she only had me down as applying for one job, not two.
So she asked which other one I applied to. I write her back and tell her. She writes back and says that someone from job #2 called me (which I already knew), but said nothing about if she found my resume or anything else about job #1. How timely. HR just called me and said I didn't get either job because I don't have enough experience. I swear I'm gonna go drive off a bridge.omg....I just found out the one job is about 2 minutes from my house. *stabs self* |

Ever since I quit my last job in 2003, I have had only three interviews out of about 10 or more job applications. I was close to getting one job but I had to drop out of the running because I would be too busy for the hours they needed me. My only jobs have been custodian and janitor jobs. It's like I've been typecast. It's the only type of job I've done and when applying for jobs at the grocery store or other places, it makes it seem like I have absolutely no experience in these types of jobs. It's frustrating. It looks like I'm not going to have a summer job like I've been hoping for. I'm always an optimist but when this happens to me a lot, it makes me feel discouraged.

I feel you pain Brian. You kinda wish you could wring these people's necks and make them realize you can do something despite lacking proper experience. Most people are willing to learn! But apparently bosses are too lazy to teach.
I've always been a pessimist, but now it's at its absolute worst. I feel only slightly better than I did when I was dealing with my anxiety with meds. |

They dont have the kindness to return your call and say "we dont have anything" A few years ago my mom applied to this hotel that was just built... They didnt ever call my mom back... (Obviously they had nothing but a call woud be nice) Quite unprofessional!! |

I last looked for work in 2023 and it was daunting. No one took applications. You had to go to some (goddamned) website called “Indeed” and apply there. This just threw me off my game since I like to get applications, meet people face to face and all that. “Indeed” was so impersonal, the employers don’t get to see you, just your information and it sucked.
But thankfully, my father died right afterwards and I got a trust fund and am retired.。Fate wanted me back with my wife and enjoying life, and employment is the opposite of enjoying life. |
