So yesterday was a scorching hot day in the Northeast-I cranked
the A/C up and sat down in preparation for the 2 PM Unsolved Mysteries on Lifetime. It was my day off, the first in a long time. Its been 3, maybe 4 months since I was able to do this. And what do ya know, its the Teracita Bassa case!!! Is this case on an inordinate amount of times? I swear its on about 1/4 of the times I'm able to watch the show. Or am I just terribly unlucky? |

I hear ya....I think its on quite often although not as much as the school bombing one or the lady searching for the two good samaritans who pulled out of her burning car. The Teracita case is definitely one of the "roll eyes" ones for me.

You're right, that case has been on many times. And the thing is, this case has been solved! Lifetime should show more cases that are unsolved, where leads are desprately needed.

I'm quick to bring up another segment that gets repeated too often: the Chair of Death.
Screw that. I'd rather watch a crime-fighting ghost over the Chair of Death anyday... |

Yikes! the Chair of Death and the school bombing divinely intervened
...I hated those slightly humorous, quasi-spooky segments-they left the same taste in one's mouth as an episode of Scooby Doo. |

That's because it does. "He's got Jonathan! That man has Jonathan!"

A (nurse?) was murdered and her body covered by a bed which was lit on fire. This (nurse?) was Teracita Bassa. There were no clues, but a few weeks later, a former co-worker and her husband reported that the ghost of Teracita Bassa had possessed her and named her own killer. They were apprehensive about telling the police until it happened again and her husband was told of some physical evidence by Teracita. The physical evidence was that her killer had stolen some jewelry and given it to his girlfriend.
Apparently, she would be sleeping and then her voice would change and she would talk in this cryptic way. After the second time, they contacted police who followed it up They checked it up and the guy who had been named and it matched a pad in Teracita's house that had the same initials, so they checked the girlfriend and she had indeed been given some jewelry recently. The relatives of Teracita came in and identified the jewelry, including a ring the girlfriend was wearing at the time. When they confronted the guy (who happened to be her co-worker), he confessed. He originally went there to fix her TV, but didn't have the right parts. On his way home, he came up with a plan to kill and rob her. When he arrived back with the tools, she went to lock the door and he grabbed and killed her. --- The milkshake of death should not exist. Worst acting of all time. That actress was like a walk-in who came on 5 minutes before. "Just make it up as you go!" Was that case ever solved? |

As far as the milkshake one (Gilbert Ortiz) yes it was solved. His wife was found and convicted and sentenced to prison but I don't remember how much time she got. Jonathon was still missing for a while but some clever law enforcement officials had a hunch that a relative of the wife's would bring Jonathan in to visit his mom in prison so they did an age progressed picture of Jonathan and showed it to the people at the prison where she was. It paid off and sure enough a boy fitting the composite was brought in for a visit and it turned out to Jonathan. UM did an update and Gilbert and his son have been reunited. |

Besides, bringing up these lines over and over and over again gets a little old. It might have been funny when it was first brought up, but now it's just plain boring. I don't think we need to talk about it every time we mention the Gilbert Ortiz case. |

Good point Mr. Fuji.
I guess to us (or at least to me) it's one of the things that stood out in the segment. |

The Terecita Bassa case has been show at least 3 times recently, when was the last time the Gilbert Ortiz case was shown? (I have seen it numerous times, but haven't seen it lately) I felt bad for the guy. His wife was purely narcissistic and evil. I'm suprised she didn't kill Johnathon because he was cramping her style too. That "That man, he took Johnathon" line is delivered in such a fake way that it is hard not to laugh. I am glad to hear that Johnathon is doing OK and psycho b'ch from hell is behind bars where she belongs.
And I hate that damn homicidal chair. They should have a cage match featuring the homicidal chair vs. those fertility statues. |
