I have to say that I agree with this article 100%. If the true "Night Court" fans, such as myself, went out and bought every DVD available made of the show, then there would be no problem or question dealing with future releases. I went out and bought both DVDs, because I wanted more seasons. No matter how much anyone begs the distributor, one has to remember that unfortunately this is still a business. So, no matter how much you beg, you're not going to get your own way. In our case, Warner Brothers is going to do whatever they want. If they feel the sales for the "best of" were poor, then you can kiss future releases goodbye. Several of us warned people out there to buy the "best of" compliation and swallow their pride, because several of us knew this was do or die for our favorite show. For me, I know I did all that I could to help the show and its cast. I even went so far as to ask our popular local radio DJ to announce the release of the "best of" DVD. He gladly did it and went above and beyond for me. The only thing I can do now is tell all the fans to go out there and buy, buy, buy. Spread the word. Get more people to make a purchase. Buy the "Night Court" DVDs for gifts. TV Guide does save our shows. Let's have our online community come together to save ours! It's still not too late.

I agree also, when TVTome was up and running, I was urging people to do the same for 227. When you buy the DVD's, please get it legit and not buy the bootleg or a dowloaded version, we need to get the numbers to a justifiable point for more releases.

Exactly. Even bidding on Ebay is not a good idea right now. People need to go out there and actually buy the product from a chain where units sold can easily be counted. I think Amazon still offers a discounted deal if you purchase both season one and the "best of together". Other markets may look appealing because they would be a cheaper way to get a hold of a copy, but they can't be counted. It's like going to a flea market and buying a new book there. The count would only be one which would be credited to the person who bought it before you. The only thing I could recommend to people out there who own any of these copies is to talk the show up, let someone borrow your copy to watch. Maybe, we can generate interest that way. Thanks to technology, I'm even thinking about sending e-mails to popular talk shows just to see if anyone else will listen. In my opinion. "Night Court" was one of the most underrated shows in television overshadowed in 1992 by the departure of "The Cosby Show" and brushed aside after it helped "Seinfeld gain an audience. "Night Court" was a unique show in its own right. It basically has been the only successful courtroom comedy since 1984. I think it deserves more respect than it's getting or has gotten in the past. Something has to be done to change this.

Night Court did get brushed to the side and the network should have let them call it quits in 1991 as originally planned. When the fan base is starting to thin, its time to throw in the towel so you won't one of those, "Oh, I didn't know that still came on" shows. The show was groundbreaking and habitually crossed the risque line keeping the censors on their toes. It was funny and its a show that you laugh all the way through rather than certain points or from one character.

Another sad point is the ratings on TVLand. The ratings must plummeted for them to put it on hiatus. Despite the ass backwards scheduling overthere, they will keep a show if its doing good in the ratings, hence the overload on Good Times, Sanford and Son and others I researched. When it comes back on, we need to watch and the fans need to support this show.

I wish they would just go straight to season 3 if they think sales will be so poor for season 2. Why not just release what could be the most popular seasons first? Also, I wish they wouldn't compare releases to the sales of Friends. Not much is going to top that show.

I couldn't agree with you more about comparing "Night Court" to "Friends." My main problem with that is this. You are comparing an older show with a fairly new show. You can't do that. It's not fair, because one show is going to be fresh in everyone's mind and the other is going to be little bit foggy for the brain. Additionally, "Friends" can be seen frequently in syndication. "Night Court" can currently be seen on only one station once a day. You can see "Friends" on a boat load of stations a least three times a day, maybe even more in some markets. I think that's the main problem with DVDs of older shows. The fresher it is in the mind, the more people will buy. The older it is most shows, unless they were landmark ones, are a harder sell.

I'm a completeist. I'd rather they be released in order if WB DOES (They key word being "maybe") begin production again, although people are too hung up on Christine and want to get those seasons out ASAP. I think they should have released the Best Of set first hand so people who needed their Christine fix could get it and then the hardcore fans could continue collecting.
