Default In the pilot episode, Carol and Mike were drinking wine

Was that the only episode that showed both parents drinking alcohol?

It's a pity if that were the only time they drank.

Everybody should (hic!) drink more.

I seem to remember that in the episode where all the kids had come down with measles; there was a drink cart in the living room. Mike is shown mixing a drink after coming home; although I don't believe he actually drinks, he does sample the swizzle stick.

I'm guessing that the cart was quickly retired due to someone probably making the point that it was a family show and a drink cart with a house full of kids was not a good mix. Just a guess.

The Bradys needed to take a cue from "Bewitched", where the characters drank pretty heavily (by sitcom standards, anyway).

...that I was referring to. It was Grandpa Brady, and Grandma Hutchins (SP?). They were imbibing something, looked more like a scotch.

By the way, why would Carol's mom be a "Hutchins"? Wasn't she Tyler Martin Brady?

That was actually Carol's Grandmother in that ep, right?

That could happen, if Hutchins had a daughter who married someone named Tyler...or Martin....

Connie Hutchins was Carol's grandmother, not her mother, so her daughter was probably Carol's mom, who married a man named Tyler and started The Tyler Bunch.

Actually her family had to move around quite a bit, since Connie was from Owensboro, KY (just across the Ohio River from the area of S. Indiana where Florence Henderson was raised), and then her daughter apparently moved to Swampscott, MA (which also happens to be my dad's native city, as revealed in "A Fistful of Reasons") to raise Carol and any of her siblings, including Oliver's mom or dad, but then moved to S. California to be near her daughter's family, I suppose.

Carol may have been born in Swampscott, MA, but she was not raised there, at least not entirely. In the "Snow White" episode, it is mentioned that Mrs. Whitfield (the retiring teacher for whom the Bradys are buying a gift) was once Carol's teacher, too. So Carol must have lived in California for at least part of the time she was growing up.
