Sad I'm worried about my sister.........

She goes around telling me and her friends that she is bisexual, and she is 12 years old. I don't think anyone's gonna think that a 12 year old bi-sexual is normal. We went to the movies yesterday and she told me she made out with another girl and walked around the movies holding hands with this girl(who she just met). I do not think anyone will think she and this girl making out in the movies and holding hands is normal for a 12 year old girl.(My sister and I were watching seperate movies, which is why I didn't know she was with this girl).......

Well I suppose it's just as normal as a person making out with anyone at 12 years old. That's pretty young to be doing things of that nature.

Is there anybody your sister can talk to? Someone mature that she trusts? Someone who isnt going to go crazy at the word 'bi-sexual', and try to find out what is going on in her mind?

Being bi-sexual itself is normal, but I do agree that it's unusual for as 12-year-old to be completely sure that they're bi-sexual, and as Matt said, it's quite young to make out with someone.

Like cablejockey said, it might be a good idea for your sister to talk to someone.

Well, I don't think you can really say what is "normal", so to speak. Going around and telling people that she's bisexual isn't exactly what other bisexuals do. Usually they keep their identity to themselves. Being that she's 12, that's quite young to be making out with anyone. Like cablejockey said, maybe she should talk about it with someone she trusts.

Well as a bisexual person, if that's the part that you're questioning, then I can tell you that I've always known I was. It may sound unusual, but I knew basically for as far back as I can even remember.

If your sister really is and she's not ashamed of it, then you should consider that a good thing. Granted, maybe she doesn't have to run around making a spectacle out of herself (which nobody at 12 years old needs to do anyway) but maybe you'd want to think of it in the sense that you're happy she's proud of who she is.

And like everyone else has said, maybe there is somebody she could talk to about this, somebody who she holds in a pretty high regard and that she trusts.

At the age of twelve, a person's sexuality is not quite fully developed, when puberty hits them, any sexual persuasion will be fair game. They won't "officially" a bisexual all through until their late teens, many young people go through a confusing time where anything about the opposite, or even same sex, is appealing. It seems like a hormonal reaction to the fact that "other people" exist, a new dimension has opened up for them about people (not just family and friends) out there.

Granted it is good that she is proud of who she is. But honestly, 12 and talking like that isn't that a bit early.

I asked her, "Do you think people(as in society) will think that a 12(then 11 when she first started saying this, she was turning 12) year old bi-sexual is normal?" and she got upset when I asked her this.

Maybe she felt that you didn't accept her when you asked her that. Maybe try a little softer approach by asking if she has feelings for other girls. And, let her know that you're her sister and are there for her. Maybe all she needs is support right now.
