This was discussed not too long ago, but I can't find the thread off hand. IME, it seems many programs are intimidating when you're a newbie. I initially downloaded trial versions of Nero Ultra & DVD Lab. As a newbie, Nero was VERY easy to use & DVD Lab was very intimidating. So I bought Nero. But very quickly, I outgrew it & ended up buying DVD Lab (the pro version), too.
But Nero was not a total waste of money as it does automatically convert the occasional PAL shows I get to NTSC.OH, and there's a difference between making the actual menus vs the graphics you may want to use for menus. So I'm not sure which one you meant. |

Photoshop, and TMPGEnc 1.6 or Photoshop and (insert re-authoring program here)
I use Photoshops exclusivley for menu creation. If you are new to DVD authoring Ulead Workshop2 has some nice options, but there is a learning curve. |
