wondering if anyone is planning to buy a Blu-ray DVD player in the near future.

or anyone has more info on them.

It will be very expensive when it first launches, not much will be available to even play in it. I am waiting until the PS3 is released later this year. It will play the blu-ray discs and while still expensive at $600.00, it is much lower than the players I have seen coming out, plus you can play all the PS2 and the PS3 games that come out.

Don't know a lot about the players but the discs are supposed to hold around 50 gigs and are much more durable than standard cds, dvds or HD discs. They are much more scratch resistant. I have read that there have been tests done where the bottom of the disc has been scratched with steel wool and the disc will still play perfect.
