Anyone recall the story where several fisherman never returned to the Hawaiin coast and a while afterwards another vessel found their boat on a deserted island like hundreds of miles away, yet with no sign of the fisherman? If I recall, it seems the discoverers of the boat on this island actually found remnants of where they had once camped on the island. Very strange indeed considering the distance the boat traveled was well beyond its fuel capacity, and stranger yet that the fisherman survived then later dissapeared.

Another interesting case similar to this is the wandering amnesiac in the desert (no, not the guy who was found wondering around looking for "the beast" and quoting new age mysticism and then later was found dead -- though this case is very odd in itself), but the guy who was found with a severe state of amnesia in either Nevada or New Mexico. He was later taken in by a family and they discovered he had a special ability for advanced mathematics, had knowledge of advanced propulsion and avionics, as well as the ability to draw schematics out for advanced jet fighter planes, ostensibly without the ability to recall where he had learned such esoteric skills. A cool theory to this story is he was an "Area 51" reject who had his mind zapped with the Will Smith zapper like in "Men in Black."

Seriously, outside of this being an elaborate hoax, and taking into consideration where this took place (in the middle of the desert near Top Secret Military bases), I think that the Men in Black mind zapping scenario may not be that far from the truth. Something very strange happened to the guy in the desert, and he does have some skills that are not indicitive of a farmer or factory worker.

What say you about these cases?

The story you're referring to is the case of the 'Sara Jo' and the five fishermen who went fishing off the coast of Hawaii. Then, unexpectedely, a storm hit and the five fishermen were never seen again. The townspeople searched and scanned the waters around the small Hawaiian village, but found nothing. I believe they vanished around 1979. Then, ten years later, and 2,000 miles away, in 1988 or 1989, the boat was found on one of the Marshall Islands in the Southwest Pacific. Also, a cross indicating the grave of one of the fisherman was also found. No one knows where the other four are.

This story is on crystaldawn's UM Favorites Volume 3, which I have.

Never heard of the latter story. Sounds pretty interesting, tho.

Would like to see that one.....

Thanks Garrett. I was wrong, the boat traveled 2,000 miles! Interesting indeed. The theory UM came up with was some sort of pirate hijacking, however why would they take the fisherman 2,000 miles away and then bury them with a gravestone and all? Doesn't make sense.

As for my other story, does anyone remember this one? There have been numerous stories on UM about wondering amnesiacs who don't know their own identity, but this one trumps them all in my opinion. It is the most interesting because of where the man was found and what he supposedly knew.
