Default Mike And Gloria Divorced?

I saw the episode where Edith and archie visit them in California and they were separated the ending doesn't explain much and I've never see the series "Gloria{"

They didn't get divorced there but she did finally divorce Mike on the series Gloria. He ran off with another woman to live in a commune.

Exactly!! At that point in the show, I just wanted to stick a pin in her and watch her fly around the room!! Cruel - but true! She really did get annoying to me the last couple of seasons. I couldn't have blame him if he had run off to a farm to be with a sheep named Daisy!!

Did you ever see the South Park episode where they parodied Sally Struthers and her Save The Children ads where they showed her to be the size of Jabba The Hutt and while the ethiopian children were starving, she had a bunker stocked with twinkies and snack cakes. Hil-arious!!!

I still think it was in bad taste to have Mike Stivic become a loser by deserting his family like that. It devalues all that Mike Stivic was while in All In the Family, and it breaks the solemn promise Mike makes to Archie when Archie says, "Promise me one thing, that you'll take care of Gloria and Joey." Mike replies, "That's something you never have to worry about."

It proves that Archie was right all those years by calling Mike a Meathead, and it was a rotten thing for the producers of the show to do to a character. It villainized him.

Was anything ever said about the money Mike promised to pay Archie for his years of living in the house? In one recent TVL ep, the amount agreed to was $3840. But maybe with Archie's mellowing in the ABP years and being more in the money than he was in those earlier years, he didn't hold to him it... unless he was angry with him for leaving Gloria and Joey. Or, was this "commune" he went to live in one where he has to give up everything he has to 'communal property'?

It seems like whatever happened, Archie was shown to be right about the Meathead in the long run.

This was the topic at another board, but I agree. I think Mike should have been imprisoned for something he did as a protest. That way, he isn't made into a deadbeat and he doesn't have to be on the show either.

Gloria wasn't involved with another guy on her series. And I think it should have been explained that it was a mutual breakup not Mike LEFT Gloria for another woman.
