PITTSBURGH - Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was injured in a motorcycle crash Monday morning and taken to a hospital.

"He was alert and conscious," said Ernie Roman, shift commander for the Allegheny County emergency service.
Steelers Dave Lockett, outside Mercy Hospital, confirmed the accident but did not provide additional details.
The 24-year-old Roethlisberger has said in the past that he prefers not to wear a helmet when riding his motorcycle.
Calls to Roethlisberger's agent, Leigh Steinberg, were not immediately returned.
In only his second year in the NFL, Roethlisberger helped guide the Steelers to the Super Bowl championship last season.

Terry Bradshaw told him to finish his career first then ride motorcycles, he told Terry to mind his own buisiness, .. wonder if he will reconsider now.

Just because he doesn't have life threatening injuries, doesn't mean it is not serious. Depending on what he hurt, head, back, legs, arms etc. His career might still be in jeopardy aka Kellen Winslow Jr.

I heard on the local news he is in surgery, in serious but stable condition. He has a broken jaw and some of his teeth were knocked out, that's all they are releasing right now.

I don't know why anyone would be so reckless especially when they're making that much money. I don't know why anyone would ride a motorcycle without a helmet. The police check people left and right down here for seatbelts but I see people ride without helmets and it's perfectly legal. I hope he's okay. I suppose when you're young you think nothing bad can ever happen to you.

Well, I hope it is not too serious, but I heard he went head first into a car's windshield. That can't be good.

He did, the news showed the car and you can see the indent in the windshield.

His back has definitely got to be f'd up. There is no way you go through a windshield and not get messed up.

The Youngstown news is saying his knees hit the pavement too. That can't be good. Plus the other things, loss of teeth, broken jaw, etc.

I guess Bradshaw was right. Maybe he'll smarten up now. I can just remember his cocky mouth on the TV after Winslow's wreck.
