I vote for when that dust-bowl cousin called John Boy a "pantywaist". Truer words were never spoken.

I think the correct term was 'penny waste'. And I don't agree with that.

Nope - I've got the DVD - it is clearly "pantywaist" - the cousin says it twice. It is old school slang for someone who is weak or effeminate. (http://www.bartleby.com/61/84/P0048400.html).

That episode is a riot.

Which episode is it where he teaches the young deaf girl sign language?

I voted for him delivering the baby. The actress was Sissy Spacek I think? A second choice would be him teaching the deaf child sign language.

I remember watching that ep with my Mother first run, when that kid called John Boy a "pantywaist" and asked my mom what he meant. And she said it was a term they used back than meaning a sissy!

And I don't agree either with that. John Boy was far from that. The cousin was a jerk, and John Boy stood up for his sisters honor. They got in a fight if I remember correctly? That was a really good ep. though, but no way was John Boy a pantywaist. He always spoke up for himself and other people. He was a really sweet guy but not cowardly at all. He always was courageous actually!

My vote is for something not on the list- when John Boy shot the bear to save his dad's life. Something a pantywaist would never have done, and I can imagine the cousin from the Dust Bowl Cousins would have ran away if faced with a similar situation.

I voted for when John Boy gave Mary Ellen the yellow roses from The Awakening because I thought that was really sweet.
