If I am not mistaken, there were a couple of episodes. You didn't miss much.

He was a good supporting character but I don't think he would have been good as a lead.

....was just a pilot for another prosepctive series featuring Scott Valentine [the first attempt to spin Nick off into his own series, "TAKING IT HOME", also disappeared after its 1986 pilot]. The ratings were very good on its only telecast, but Brandon Tartikoff decided not to give 'Nick' his own series. However, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who appeared in the pilot as a supporting character, was used by Gary David Goldberg again as a regular in his 1988-'89 series, "DAY BY DAY" (as essentially the same character she played in the "NICK" pilot).

And that show bombed too and tried to boost ratings by having a crossover episode with Family Ties

I couldnt STAND Ni-Ick...I hated every second of airtime he got on my then fave show, Family ties; and I refused to watch ANY ep of FT where he was featured for more than a cameo, so, i sure wasnt going to watch a show he STARRED in....however, Jen makes a good point that, had it been a hit, at least hed have been off FT
