I never cared for Frasier. I would have had The Jeffersons #1.

I would have put The Jeffersons as #1 on my list no doubt, but at least it was defeated by a show that did have the same lifespan and popularity. Fraiser ran for 11 full seasons while The Jeffersons only really had 10 and a half. I still can't believe that Kelsey Grammer played the same character for 22 years!

Also, what was Laverne and Shirley a spin-off of? I thought Good Times was a spin-off as well. From Maude right? I guess maybe it does not count since Maude was also a spin-off.

Oh God, let's not get started on that topic of spin-offs.

the way you phrase that the Jeffersons "only really had 10 and half seasons" like it's a bad thing. That is awesome. How many shows can last half that? You compare it to Frasier which lasted ONLY SIX MONTHS LONGER than the Jeffersons and you make it seem like its a big difference....

I never meant for my post to make The Jeffersons sound bad. I love The Jeffersons and I have never watched an episode of Frasier. I do not think that 10 and a half seasons is a bad run. It's a great run. I'm just saying that I would have been even more insulted if The Jeffersons had been beat by a show that did not last half as long. Longevity counts, and Frasier deserves just as much credit for that as The Jeffersons do even though we all find The Jeffersons to be vastly superior.

Yes I highly agree. I stated on another board that i have only seen one episode of Frasier. I liked it a lot. I can't say one way or another whether it is worthy of being named number 1 spin-off. If that one episode is a sample of the show, then it surely deserves to be on top. The fact that The Jeffersons from the 70's and Frasier from the 90's are the top two shows, then that says something. Basically then, the top 70's spin-off show is The Jeffersons.

Another show that I'm shocked isn't listed is Family Matters. That and Facts Of Life both ran 9 years.

Though I don't agree with the choices of Maude, Mama's Family, and Lou Grant (barely seen it though), I can live with those. But I have to take exception to Mork and Mindy.

It only lasted 4 seasons (and season 4 was worse than Baby Bob).
It is nowhere near in quality of other shows that could have made the list.

I liked M&M somewhat as a kid, but watching it again makes me cringe.

And to answer someone's question, Laverne & Shirley was a spinoff of Happy Days. That's pretty well known.

The Jeffersons ran 11 seasons too, it was on the air for ten and a half years instead of seasons.

Frasier definitely doesn't get the props that it deserves from some fans. It won best comedy multiple years and I believe won the most emmys than any other sitcom in history. It really was a great show.
