TONIGHT OF TVLAND-TOP 10 SPINOFFS - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

ACCORDING TO THE TVLAND SITE, TONIGHT (CHECK YOUR LOCAL TIMES), TVLAND IS AIRING THE VOTED TOP 10 TV SPINOFFS. I'M SURE FACTS IS INCLUDED, ESPECIALLY SINCE THERE'S A PICTURE OF THE FACTS OF LIFE OPENING THEME.

MY QUESTION IS, WHERE IS IT PLACED? YOU KNOW I THINK IT SHOULD BE # 1 OF COURSE, BUT FOR US FACTS FANS, IT WILL BE ANOTHER GREAT THING TO WATCH!

I'M GLAD FACTS HAS NEVER DIED OVER THE YEARS AND IS GETTING PROPS AFTER ALL THIS TIME, AND DESERVINGLY SO!

WELL, WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT! FACTS WASN'T EVEN IN THE TOP 10! BUT, IT DID GO ACCORDING TO VOTES, AND BY THE TIME I FOUND OUT, IT WAS TOO LATE TO VOTE. I'M COUNTING THAT AS THE REASON FACTS WASN'T IN THE TOP 10. CUZ YOU KNOW, IT SURE WOULD'VE BEEN, HAD WE ALL KNOWN ABOUT IT & VOTED! AFTERALL, FACTS FANS ARE THE MOST LOYAL ONES, DON'TCHA KNOW

I was very disappointed that The Facts wasn't one of the top 10 spin offs!!!!

I watched the whole thing, and kept hoping them to say The Facts of Life, but no hope.

YES, ME TOO! EVERYTIME ANOTHER SHOW WAS MENTIONED, I WAS LIKE, WOW! THEY BEAT THEM AND ARE CLOSER TO #1!

TVLand's polls are a bunch of crap. They had their Top Ten moms and their promos for the show kept showing the mother of Good Times. They showed her more than any other mother and guess what????? SHE NEVER MADE THE TOP TEN LIST!!!!! So, I learn that from now on, you can't rely on their "shenanigans, promos, pics, etc." TVLand is TVcrap!

Yall all have to take into consideration the other spinoffs that FOL was up against and honestly it just wasn;t as good as the others, sorry

Oh no you didn't Solomon!!!!

FOL is a great show. Its first season was "iffy" but it redeemed itself and went on to create television history as one of NBC's longest running sitcoms.

FOL was an OK show but not top ten

I don't think FOL should have been near the top. There are a lot of classic spinoffs, but I think it would be fair to put it somewhere between 8-10. I think more people remember FOL than Benson. I liked Benson too but that took the 10 spot. Then again, I think any voting for Benson was prompted by the fact that they showed a 48 hour marathon this past weekend.

I don't remember the order, but most made sense to me.

Mork and Mindy and Laverne and Shirley--both spun off of Happy Days.

Jeffersons--spun off of All in the Family.

Frasier--spun off of Cheers.

Rhoda and Lou Grant--both spun off of Mary Tyler Moore.

Mama's Family--spun off of Carol Burnett.

The majority of the shows were shows pre FOL, with the exception of Frasier.

REASONS BEING, ARE THAT THEY OUTLASTED THE ORIGINAL SERIES FROM WHENCE IT CAME, IT WAS ONE OF THE LONGEST NBC SITCOMS, AND IN FACT, WAS THE LONGEST RUNNING NBC SITCOM AT THAT TIME, AND IS STILL CONSIDERED TO BE THE LONGEST SITCOM WITH A FEMALE CAST (YOU GO GIRLS!). THE RATINGS FOR MOST OF IT WAS CONSIDERED VERY GOOD. ALSO, I BELIEVE, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF FRASIER, FACTS WAS ON THE LONGEST THAN ALL OTHERS MENTIONED.
