Default This was a disturbing scene for me in Full Metal Jacket at the age of 11

The scene when the Heavy Guy was pinned to his bed and getting beat with bars of soap inside a towel. It was so hard for me to watch that when the movie was out in 1987. Anyone have trouble watching that scene in 1987 who was 11 or younger at the time?

I think the murder/suicide scene was much worse.

I guess you can say that both scenes was about the same, but that bar of soap scene just freaked me out

That freaked me out too, because when I went into Boot Camp, I was afraid of screwing up. In real life, they put a master lock in a sock and use that.

I think there are quite a few scenes in Full Metal Jacket which are pretty disturbing. I think that just contributes to its realism. I think it is a great movie.

I hated what they did to him in that scene, even if he did piss them off and got them into trouble.

The most disturbing for me was when he went into the bathroom just before we see Joker go to Vietnam.

Yeah, I can see how they would be. There's another one that always gets to me, when one of the guys from Cowboy's platoon reveals that dead guy and calls him his brother.
