WAS THAT A REAL GERMAN ACCENT THAT SHE HAD?..OR NOT?...ITS HARD TO BELIEVE THAT SHE MAINTAINED A FAKE ACCENT LIKE THAT FOR ALL THOSE YEARS...ANYONE KNOW?

No, it is fake. She isn't even German, she was born here in the US. She is actually of Swedish decent.

The distinctly Swedish name Inga Swenson, should have been a give-away,
but the accent itself wasn't really all that good anyway.

..."Teutonic" accent for 'Gretchen Kraus' was just as authentic as David Ogden Stiers' "Harvard/Bostonian" accent for 'Major Winchester' was on "M*A*S*H"......BOTH of them, if you've seen their other roles in films, TV and Broadway, used exaggerated accents for their characters. Like Jimmy Doohan did on "STAR TREK" as 'Scotty'-----
