there is no single program that is capable of doing this in high quality, it requires several steps/several programs IF it is a retail DVD.

Is your disk a fan made DVD or is it a retail movie DVD?

If you have a DVD recorder the easiest way is to play the original in a PAL/NTSC DVD player and feed that to your DVD recorder and it will convert it for you.

The only problem with that is, if it is a retail disk and it has 5.1 surround you will not get the benefit of that.

If you want to keep that, then you will need to do it via the computer. I would reccomend the DGPulldown method you can find a tutuorial here:

The 5.1 Audio will need to be converted using Besweet with the AC3 machine GUI.

You will also not get to keep the menus unfortuantely.

The biggest issue with a PAL/NTSC conversion is keeping the video and audio in sync.

Nero 7 Premium does it all in one go.

If it's a retail DVD, rip it to your hard drive with DVD Shrink. Then run it through Nero 7 to make a backup of it, and there's a tab to change the encoding from PAL to NTSC or vice versa. The VQ will degrade slightly, but nothing too much.

Nero 7 doesn't include menus, so plan on doing your own menus. It also takes a long time 2-6 hours.

Nero 7 Premium does do menus, even animated menus. And is widely available at many torrent sites.

TV To Be honest....

all of the programs that I have seen results from
are not so hot
and 90% of the time u get better results just recording it from dvd player to your dvd recorder

i wish they would come up with a quick/easy program to knock it out in 8 mins!

Does anyone know what the output settings should be so that the playback is full screen and not cropped at the top and Bottom?

Clarification-Nero 7 doesn't convert the menus from a PAL disc to NTSC format. It can make menus if you want to add them after you have converted the disc.
