No, I don't think it was odd at all. As far as still calling him "Mr. Bentley" I don't find that unusual either. Two co-workers of mine, though friends, still address me as Mr. in spite of the fact that I've known them several years. One I've known almost fifteen years! It's a formality thing with some people.

It was unusual if she was knowing him for years and never said Harry or Bentley. I think she called him that during the entire series

I agree. When I worked in corporate, everyone -- from the CEO on down, was on a first name basis.

My niece is a dental hygienist, and she's been asked to call the dentists by their first names -- but only out of the earshot of patients.

I agree with you; however, some people just seem to be given more to formality, and it does take time for them--plus, I work at a school, so the 'Mr.' aspect kind of comes with the territory, I suppose.

Interesting topic. What's also interesting is that Jenny called George and Louise Mr. and Mrs. Jefferson throughout the entire series, long after they were in-laws. Lionel called the Willises Mom and Pop in one episode (Marathon Men), but by the time he was divorcing their daughter it was back to the more formal Mr and Mrs Willis. Does anyone who is married in real life call their in-laws Mr and Mrs ______?

In the episode where Jenny announces that she's pregnant he tells her to call him George, but I guess the writers felt that that was out of character for her (or him) and changed their minds.
