Default STAR TREK ON TV LAND....

...I just read that STAR TREK T.O.S. (The Original Series) will begin airing on TV LAND in November (for all you non-trekies, it's the one with Kirk and Spock)

For those who don't know, NEXT GEN. (NEXT GENeration),and D.S.9 (Deep Space 9) currently air on SPIKE TV and next year ( later this year) they're going to start showing VOY. (VOYager)

Really? I'm not sure how i feel about that.
I hope that doesn't mean they'll stop showing TOS on Sci Fi or G4.
I kind of like the "Trek 2.0" stuff they do on G4.

I'm thinking about shelling out the $90 or so dollars it costs for Season 1 of the original Trek. Hopefully that will hold me until the sets come down in price.

I didn't even know it was on Sci-Fi.

And I can't watch TV shows on the computer anymore.
It's a drag and a half.

Whatever that means.

Sci-Fi lost rights awhile back. G4 has rights and TV Land will do a shared deal with them. G4 can air it between 8am-8pm, while TVL can air it from 8p-8a starting in Nov.

I said before that i was uncomfortable with TV Land showing Star Trek, and here's why...

TV Land has never done a sci fi series.

Personally, I think the "Star Trek" shows belong somewhere else.

I don't think "Star Trek" should be lumped in with "Cosby Show" and "Cheers."

I agree about TV Land.
But whatever channel shows it at a decent time is ok with me.
I just want to see it.

I wish it was on channel 11(see avatar) again.
I will always associate it with WPIX.

By the way TJL, what the hell you doing up at 4:59 am??

I started watching the "City on the Edge of Forever" on TV Land Friday night...I turned it off after about 15 minutes...they'd already chopped out a bunch of dialogue, I didn't wait to see how much more TV Land would grind it up.

I watch Star Trek TOS on G-4 on Saturday afternoons sometimes (when I remember that it's on, and if it's an episode I like)... the eps there run something like an hour and ten minutes or so... I'm not sure if they're just throwing in a bunch of extra commercials, or if they're actually showing them as kind of uncut episodes, with added commercials. But with TV Land, there's no way I'd watch it there after seeing the way they chop it up, even while showing it for a supposed 40th anniversary "tribute". With tributes like that...

Yeah, you didn't miss anything...

For example, they cut out the part when Spock explains that the "guardian of forever" is, by itself, the source of all the time displacement they dectected while the Enterprise was in orbit...

Then, right after Kirk asks the Guardian "Are you machine or being?" and the Guardian answers "I am both..and neither...I am my own beginning, my own ending"...

They cut out the part when Spock says that he sees no reason for answers to be couched in riddles and the Guardian answers "I answer all questions as simply as your level of understanding makes possible". They also cut Spock's reaction to that comment.

That's when I figured, if they're going to chop up the episode this badly, I'm not even going to bother with it...

I'm not sure if TV Land leases the episodes and makes these cuts themselves, or if they lease the episodes in that condition. But in any event, it's not worth watching.

TVLand.com Now Airing Full-Length Episodes and Reunites Cast Members for Live Video Chat on November 19

TV Land Programs 'Space Week' in Preparation for Star Trek Beaming Down To TV Land Beginning November 17

NEW YORK, Nov. 2 -- TV Land celebrates the launch of the cult classic series Star Trek as the network and its website prepare for Captain Kirk and The Starship Enterprise to continue to "live long and prosper." The celebration includes the following: free streaming episodes of the series on TVLand.com (first time ever offered free on the Web); an online Star Trek videoclip game with fun factoids about the series; TV Land's "Space Week" featuring special space-themed episodes of the
network's shows, episodes of TV Land's programming that feature guest appearances by members of the Star Trek cast and the full-length feature film Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan; a marathon showing a total of 30 episodes of the series and a live video chat on TVLand.com on November 19 at 9pm ET reuniting cast members George Takei, Walter Koenig and Nichelle
Nichols. Star Trek will air in its regular time slot of 11pm (ET/PT) on TV Land beginning November 20.

TVLand.com kicks-off the festivities as the website is offering free streaming full-length episodes of Star Trek beginning now through November 8. During this time, fans will have access to five of the most popular episodes of the series including: "Where No Man Has Gone Before," "Space Seed," "The City on the Edge of Forever," "Amok Time" and "The Trouble with
Tribbles." This is the first time Star Trek episodes are available for free on the Web.

Additionally, TVLand.com is hosting a variety of fun features for fans of the series including:

* "Is It Logical?" -- a Star Trek Videoclip trivia game which lets players test their knowledge on the series with questions, factoids and short videoclips.
* Captain's Blog -- the famous Captain's Log is the official record of the USS Enterprise's adventures but this Captain's Blog lets users take the controls. * Message Boards -- gives fans ability to connect with our online Star Trek community.
* Exclusive TVLand.com interviews with Leonard Nimoy, George Takei and William Shatner.

Additionally, in mid-November, TVLand.com's broadband media player will run two original pieces including Dreaming of Star Trek, which looks at Star Trek's impact on scientists, writers, comedians and others as well as Star Trek at Christie's which will feature Star Trek props recently sold at the auction house.

Beginning Monday, November 13, TV Land will feature "Space Week" -- an on- air programming event featuring special space-themed episodes of TV Land shows as well as guest appearances by members of the Star Trek cast (before they were Trekkies). The week will feature William Shatner on Gunsmoke, Leonard Nimoy on Bonanza and space-themed episodes of I Love Lucy and Benson, among others. Then, on November 17th through 19th, viewers can enjoy marathons of the classic series with a total of 30 episodes in the event as well as the full-length feature film Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.

In the final culmination event, TVLand.com will host a live video chat on November 19 at 9pm ET reuniting cast members George Takei, Walter Koenig and Nichelle Nichols.

This futuristic series is set in the 23rd century and follows the adventures of the U.S.S. Enterprise. Their mission is to travel across the
galaxy to explore new worlds and seek new life forms and civilizations.
Commanded by James T. Kirk (William Shatner), accompanied by his first officer and best friend Mr. Spock (Leonard Nimoy), a half-human/half-Vulcan with pointed ears. The Enterprise encountered confrontations with such now-famous aliens the Klingons and the Romulans, as well as other
strange forms of life. Other characters in the series include Dr. Leonard McCoy (DeForest Kelley), a surgeon and diagnostician; Sulu (George Takei), the chief navigator; Uhura (Nichelle Nichols), the communications officer; Scotty (James Doohan), the chief engineer and Nurse Christine Chapel (Majel Barrett). The series aired from 1966 to 1969 on NBC and spawned a billion
dollar franchise and a loyal legion of fans, otherwise known as "Trekkies."
