Why wasn't it they didn't mention about the oldest daughter in Poltergiest 2 ?

I just recently watched the other day,' Poltergeist 2'. And I was just wondering, they never make any mention about what happened to the oldest daughter, (wether she got married, moved out, etc.) I understand that after she made the first 'Poltergeist' movie, she was beatened to death by her boyfriend, or murdered, (I can't remember the exact facts of the story). But why didn't they at least make up a storyline for her in the sequal as to why she wasn't there. Even though the movie was based around Carol Ann.

They did- actually

they said "After the trauma" she was staying with close friends of the family-
Its about 15 mintues into the film- right around, when the son is asking to buy a tv again- when they go shopping.

They mention it very briefly- at least in the version i saw-

And then in the third,
they mention very briefly where the REST of the family is-
as well

Not very well but they do at least mention it.
