Hey! New member here, and what better place to put my first post than in the Sanford and Son board?
I was wondering if anyone remember the little song Fred sang on the episode "Card Sharps" when he was trying to help Lamont beat those cheaters? The song went something like this" "Quarter to the three threes..no one in the place, has got less these! So throw em in, joe! This little story can save you some dough! So, throw em in joe; throw them in, joooooooe". I always loved that! Did I get the word right, though?

That came from a real song called "One More for the Road". Frank Sinatra and a few others sang it. Fred was changing some of the words around. The first verse goes like this:
It's a quarter to three, There's no one in the place except you and me, So, set 'em up Joe, I've got a little story you ought'a know, We're drinking my friend, To the end of a brief episode, Make it one for my baby and one more for the road. Oh, yeah - Welcome to the board! |

Oh yeah!!
I just love this particular episode, simply because Fred's always interfering in a deliberate sense as far as Lamont's poker game is concerned. He knows that Lamont (a.k.a. "The Big Dummy") is gonna lose. He even interrupted their game twice over the phone to Lamont, and the second time Fred called him about "Don't play that hand! Don't play that hand...", he told Lamont in closing of that particular sentence, "...DUMMY..." LMAO And oh yeah, he sure did LOSE...it was too funny when he did, 'cause right after Skeeter Matthews (Thalmus Rasulala) said, "Royal Flush!", Fred told Lamont, "Yeah, 'Royal Flush' is exactly right! Your money's royally flushed right down the TOILET..." That was one of the best episodes of S&S I can recall watching and enjoying all the way through.

This was one of the greatest Fred Sanford moments, because he bailed Lamont sorry ass out. Crafty Fred vs. Crabby Lamont. Guess which one is victor?

Fred's wisdom and common sense (especially with the poker-playing thing) really bailed Lamont's adamant & stubborn ass out, big time. No contest!! I also loved it when, during the beginning of the group's card playing, Fred kept swatting away at Lamont's associates with that fly swatter device... Obviously he meant some serious business, with "fly killin'" and stuff...LOL.
