Does anyone remember a case from the late 1980's early 1990's where a doctor examined a girl in his room having convinced her parents not to come in with her? I think she may have been the victim of a sexual crime but it is so long ao I cannot remember if that is correct and he assualted her? he then fled, again I cannot remember if it was just her or if he had done it to other children but after the show aired they found him hiding in some remote forest area where he had taken a pot shot at some guy out walking there, does anyone have any more details of this case as it was one of those I found disturbing and cannot remember how long he was senteced for and have not seen it mentioned on here? Thanks

I remember that one. He was a cop and such a horrible story! He was one of the cops assigned to the sex crimes division and his name was Charles Mulet. I believe it took place in Slidell, Lousiana. A girl and her parents came in because she was having trouble with a neighbor boy so I assume he was sexually harassing her. Mulet told her parents he would need to meet with her many more times and it wasn't necessary for them to stay and wait. He would then take her to a motel room he had reserved for police business and apparently molest her. The poor girl finally told her parents and the other authorities and they set up a sting when he brought her to the motel room one last time. He eventually escaped and someone did spot him out in a wooded area wearing scrubs as was his habit (maybe thats why you thought he was a doctor) and shot at them for no reason. There was an update that he was eventually captured and I believe they said he could get over 100 years in prison but I don't know for sure what his sentence was.

Thanks to both of you- it is a shame that UM does not have a database of all their solved mysteries with sentences etc, you would think this guy would have been jailed for a long time but having just watched the ghost story where the murdered nurse is said to have named her killer from beyond the grave and he only got 15 years you never know

All I can say is that plea bargains are interesting things.... I hestitate to call them tools, but they are an interesting part of the criminal justice system. |
